Default RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

murawskiallen:

I have only raced it once this year. Had a new little addiditon to the family and I have not been able to race as much as I like. For the past 3 years, I have raced it every weekend - almost every weekend - against the Unlimited's. The CF upper brace is a must for this.

1) It lowers the CG with the battery being lower
2) Stiffens the front and rear diffs - gets rid of the slop.
3) Weighs less - every gram you can save increases speed

As weight goes:

Steel - strongest - weighs the most
Titanium - Stronger than Aluminum, not as strong as steel, weighs less than steel - more than aluminum
Aluminum - Weighs less than Titanium less strong than steel or titanium - Bends
Carbon Fiber - Weighs the least - but fractures at failure. Best for compession not torsional parts

As you have probably seen, I have all the hop-ups that HPI makes for the MT2 and then some. If you are going to race they are all needed. Makes the truck very quick and more predictable in the corners.
