May be some one else can chime in here also, but typically the regulator should be placed between the switch and battery. Therefor if you are testing the battery via the switch it should tell you the actual voltage of your battery, becuase it is not being regulated. It is only regulated going into the reciever. Best way to check that your regulator is working is plug the regulator into your battery and then connect regulator to a source that would give you voltage readings. Do not leave the regulator plugged into your battery because the regulator will draw down the voltage of your battery and possible destroy the battery. Hope this helps.
