Yeah keeping it sealed from the factory would have been the smartest thing to do. But since you already opened it, maybe a wooden box with a plexi glass top and side so you can view it that way. Maybe cherry or cedar for the wood part maybe even oak, but cherry I think would be best. Since you want to make it nice you might as well go nice with the wood part to right.
