Nothing wrong with your post, welcome to the forum. IT does sound like you have an electrical problem of some kind. Here are some things to check...

1) Crystals match?
2) Antenna on receiver has not been cut or damaged
3) Servo and speed control are well connected to the receiver.

If all of that seems ok, then disconnect the motor from the speed control, so that it can't go anywhere. Now try the steering. Does the steering behave normally? If yes, then it's the speed control. If not, then it's most likely the receiver and/or transmitter, as it seems unlikely (though possible) that the speed control AND the steering servo have gone at the same time.

Lastly, you may want to ask this in the electric buggies forum, they will probably be able to help you better. I'm a nitro dude, I only play with electrics (and usually micros) for a laugh when I can't be arsed to get covered in fuel and mud. My knowledge is adequate but not advanced when it comes to electrics.
