Default RE: Official track-building thread

Nice tracks guys!!!

I am getting ready to head over to my dad's place where he has offered me a corner of his 1 acre garden to use as bashing grounds since the local parks districtthinks my 1/10 nitro will "rutt up" there precious BMX track. (that i helped build and maintain in my BMX racing days) but i digress.

I dont know how big of an area hell be giving my but i hope its the corner im thinking of which has a slight grade to it and again from my BMX days I already pulled every rock over 1/4" out of. My current idea is to flaten it our with his tractor till it up then run a roller over it for a nice smooth start. From there i was going to start with a layout that more resembles a skate or inline street course then a track per-say, but lay it out in such a way that I can hit in a few different layouts for racing, or just bash around it.

QUESTIONS:
I know I want a rythm section a double, triple and I'm goign to try a big step-up on the uphill run, but short of that what else would you throw in if it was your dream bashing grounds? I am kind of drawing a blank and have not seen any off road tracks in person yet just pics online.

Also he's got a tractor and a roller and the dirt is clean and packs nicely but its very dusty/light soil (he's been gardening on the land for 20 years) and i know its really tuff to build berms or jumps with the stuff. I'm thinking about mabey when i till it adding something to it to help it hold together, but what would i add to do this? i was already gonna throw in some of his vermiculite to help it dry out quicker when it rains. i know DG packs and drains well but i also have learned that its about the worst thing for traction. Any ideas???

again thanks for the advice in advance.

ill take some pics of the lot and mabey photoshop in some of my ideas to post up when i get over there.
