I replaced mine with just a piece of wire that looked to be close to the same gage, I dont think it really matters, mine is actully a bit heaver gage but it works great. I left a bit of the bare wire exposed on the top, thinking it may work better. It seems to me to work better then stock but that could be a coinsidence.
