I have no problem flying in wind with the right plane. I have been known to fly a Diamond Dust in winds of as much as 40 MPH. However, if you knew what a Westerner is you would know why I refuse to maiden it in any real wind. It's a 145" span cabin old timer. Rudder, elevator, throttle only. It's powered by a .91 FS and weighs about 8 lbs.
i know exactly what a Westerner is, it's a Elbert Weathers design and they fly like a dream. myself i fly anything and everything in the wind, flew my Cermark F-16 and 18oz Goldberg Chipmunk 400 park flier last weekend in the 20-25 knot winds and maidened an Eagle2 for a guy yesterday and took the F-16 and the Diamond Dust back out today. I'm sure the winds in Auburn have been about the same as here the past few weeks.
