72 mhz rx are not cheaper than the 2.4's, when you compare apples to apples. For the senthisized R790 JR SPCM receiver you are looking at 99 bucks. The AR7000 (equivilent 2.4 rx) is--99 bucks, and you get two receivers for the price of one. Sure, you can buy other brands in the 50 dollar range, but those rx's aren't as capable as the PCM receivers and 2.4 gig receivers when it comes to things like fail safe--so let's compare apples to apples, here.

He said something about foamies. If he is interested mainly in smaller, park flyers, then the AR 6100 is only 50 bucks--and it works with the DX7 radio as well--so there are cheaper 2.4 gig receivers out there.....
