When you look at a map...check the isobars. The closer together and more numerous...the higher the wind.

Here is a link to a website I use for predicting the wind forecast for a particular time of day. Go to
www.weatherunderground.com
Type in your zip code at the top of the page. Once it brings up your local 5 day forecast, click on the "detail" button for a particular day. About half way down that page, you will see wind forecasts for 3 hour intervals. It's pretty accurate and I can "look ahead" to see if there is any window of outdoor flying opportunity!
