I would also add that you can put a pin in the middle of the hinge to keep it centered between both surfaces. I've had them move when trying to assemble the surfaces. If the pin is keeping the hinge gap too wide for you you can remove it before you glue. then just push the gap closed, flex the surface, and glue.
