I just looked at the Nexstar manual and it clearly shows that the bottom of the coils is even with the bottom of the fuselage.
Remember that the nose wheel only needs to turn a few degrees. This isn't supposed to be a slalom racer. At the most you want to be able to turn around using the FULL width of your runway. Too sensitive of a nose wheel just makes it more difficult to handle on takeoff.
