RE: Fueling dot
This may be more information than you want but here goes. On my planes I use a check valve in the tank vent line. When I fill the tank I open the vent line fuel dot for the fuel tank to overflow when it is full. When I finish filling the tank I put fuel dots (plugs) in the fill line and overflow (vent) line. As the engine uses fuel air goes into the tank through the check valve.
The first photo shows the fuselage lying on it's right side. You can see the lines plugged by the fuel dots. Of course when you pull the fuel dot out of the feed through aluminum fitting the fuel line comes with it. The second photo shows the various lines.
Of course, a simpler method is to use a fill and vent line. The fill line is plugged with a fuel dot after filling. The vent line is left open. The vent fuel dot is handy for plugging the line while transporting or storing.
