Global Freestyle

Hi All,
This is one great, FUN, plane to fly! I've got about 50 flights on mine, equipped with an Irvine .53. This engines gives unlimited performance, turning an apc 12.25 x 3.75 at 14700. Recently, after burning through a number of plugs, I switched to an 11 x 6 and the performance is still unlimited. This plane get me excited!

The instruction set with the plane is pretty good. The two modifications I'd make from the start are to raise the rudder servo 1/8" up so that the rudder cables do not interfere with other servos, and to stiffen the rudder post in the are that the rudder control horn passes through, OR, use two plastic control horns back-to-back.

This plane is best .40 sized plane I've ever had. I'm an avid pattern flyer now flying Masters. I did very well at the 2002 pattern nats this summer in advanced class. I bought this plane to use as a "combo/hybrid" plane to use to promote pattern to local club flyers. I have let a number of flyers fly it, and they too agree that it is a great flying airplane. I've used it to demonstrate the sportsman, intermediate, advanced, and masters pattern with it. PLUS, you can slow to a total crawl on landing.

I'm using the Futaba 9C radio, with all rates assigned to upper right 3-position switch. I have "pattern", "high", and 3-d rates assigned to the 3 positions of the switch. Snaps, require the "3-d" rate to get the wing gyrating quickly around. ALLLLLLL linear rolls with this plane are really fun and track very well. Knife-edge is really a breeze. Initially, I flew with standard 3003 servos. The plane has impressed me enough to now have installed coreless servos on the ailerons, and a digital on the rudder. Although I have not tapped the tail with it yet, the plane has the full potential in the hands of a more 3-D capable pilot.

Guys, I think this plane in a "90 sized" version, 65" or so wing would sell wildly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, at $150 bucks, you just can't go wrong with it!!!! This is the plane I use to perform all the tricks I don't do with the $2500 pattern plane!

Quite frankly, I've considered scratching a duplicate fuselage, 78.5" in length, and installing an extra set of pattern wings and stabs I have. I've scaled these measurement to a 2 meter fuse length, and the entire design is actually very close to my ZNLine Alliance. The Freestyle is "proportionally" a taller design (FYI) that I think would do VERY well. I think they got the aero just right with this one, and it definately flys bigger than 55".
