Sounds like you need more sim time. Even if you went with a different heli I don't think your problems would go away. Helis require lots of practice and when you think you've got it, Practice some more. If your not using a flight sim or at least have multiple batteries, Your learning curve is going to be alot steeper from limited flying time. Get on a sim and practice practice practice!!!
