RE: DX7 Setup (HELP)
I didn't care for the expo settings Andrew had, but expo is a personal touch.
To get you started 120 degree swash, 60,60,60 you may have to change to a negative if you see the function is opperating in the reverse of what it should. These will also be the settings you use if you want to limit the overall function. Say after head set up, you only want +9,-9 degrees of pitch at high,low stick instead of +11,-11 , reduce the percentage. Note : if only one servo is functioning opposite of what it should, reverse just that servo in the channel reversing menu.
Leave your normal flight mode pitch and throttle curves linear (0,25,50,75,100) until you set up your head and program your ESC.
After those are done, I would say;
a pitch curve for norm of 40,45,50,75,100 as well for hold
for stunt 1&2 0,25,50,75,100
a throttle curve for norm of 0,65,80,90,100
for stunt 1&2 100,90,80,90,100 so when you flip the switch it is a smooth transition above half stick.
for hold -5
set gear channel to gyro, in gyro sense menu 0 to 72 which equates to 32% gain, on a futaba gyro using the 1.44 convertion,for HH
1 to 30 which equates to 29% gain for rate mode
I use the rudder D/R (dual rate) switch for gyro gain or gear channel and use Gear switch for hold, deppending on wether you use aux2 for some accesory (lights, cam., etc...) , I find it easier to let go of throttle and collective control versus cyclic.
Expo is going to be to your own personal feel for the heli. The expo percentage defines the amount of softening stick imput at center with a positive number and increases imput with a negative number. The D/R value reduces the overall corisponding function, similar to an end point adjustment but the affect is incramented across stick travel.
Sub trim settings to adjust servo arms to 90 degrees and tune the swashh to level.
End point (travel adjust) settings to elliminate ccpm interactions. Here, I too would suggest you download Finless's videos.
