I am totally new to combat so I really dont know anything!

A guy at my field and me were thinking about trying combat just for fun. We are both pretty experanced flyers (he has been flying longer so he is a lot better than me). Is there any suggestions on what kind of plane to buy. I know I dont really want to build a kit and I dont think he does either so a ARF would be great. Something that would but us on a level playing field for starting out.
