Default RE: Paint match?

No problem using latex paint.

Couple of things you do need to be aware of though with latex.

1. Flat latex takes about 7 - 10 days to "cure". Semi-gloss and gloss typically take 21days or longer. By the paint being "Cured" - press your finger firmly on a hard spot (I normally use the cowl area). If a fingerprint remains in the paint, it is not cured (Don't worry, the fingerprint will disappear in a day or two)

2. You will get your best results using 25psi - 30 psi.

3. Use ONLY water to thin the paint. Some advocates say to use windshield washer fluid. My experience has been that IT WILL tint the colors, especially light colors.

4. For masking use 3M brand BLUE masking tape. You want the "60 Day Safe Release". This tape has a paper appearance and the wrapper will have an adhesive index on the side. Make sure it is the "2 Dot" rating. This adheres reasonably well, but will not pull up fresh underlying paint.

5. Latex will be "dry to the touch" in about 30 minutes and can tolerate some LIGHT handling at this point.

6. If you "mess up", latex can USUALLY be removed with a WET rag UP TO 6 hours after painting (I, personally, would not go beyond 4 hours).

7. DO NOT try to sand latex paint - all it will do is ball up. SOME people have reported LIMITED success with wet sanding and a 600 grit paper.

8. Make sure the paint has cured before putting any clear coat on.

Hope this helps.
