I just started mine too and intend to do some mods mostly for weight savings. I will be interested to see how you do the pull pull system; are you planning to cross the cables?
I took a dremel to the fuse and took off 1/4lb, it is somewhat overbuilt. Also the rear formers, i made new ones from 1/8" balsa. Haven't started the wing yet but will make 2" ailerons and also dual aileron servos. I crashed my old one and liked it enough to buy another. Less weight is definitely better, I hope to get it sub 5lb.
