RE: Walkera Dragonfly #36
Ok I got the painting done. I'm a little dissapointed with the turnout, it wasn't what I was wanting exactly, but it came out ok i guess. I should have used a white or silver undercoat, instead of black. Oh well.
-So the first pic shows the overview, with my new antenna whip and the painted canopy. It looks black in certain light and angles, which is kinda cool.
-Second pic shows the color of the canopy better, and the antenna whip from an angle. Looks bluer from this angle and lighting.
-Third pic shows just the canopy. Despite the smears and runs on the first coat, it looks pretty uniform. You can see how it came out much darker than the CNC head color I was going for. The scratches and crappiness is the canopy itself, its apparently been through alot. The weird white line is a reflection of the fluorescent bulb on the ceiling. FYI, don't use clear packing tape in place of masking tape (I was out) to tape off the canopy, it leaves residue that takes 3 hours of goo-goneing to remove. That was some fun right there.
Anywho, maybe the next time I paint a canopy I'll get it more how I wanted it. This works for now though. It gives it more character than just clear boringness, and it'll probably flow better once I get more carbon fiber parts. I'll put some final pics of this stage of the heli's improvements in my profile once I get my ESC back, installed, and the wires organized. Comments are welcome.
