Default RE: Will a fuel pump help with flooding?

From Rcpilet :

>Whats a Perry pump?

>It's a fuel pump. It PUMPS fuel. That is all. It does NOT regulate fuel.

The Micro Oscillating pump has a volume control on it. That's a form of flow regulation.

>Does your car have a fuel pump? Of course it does. Does that fuel pump dump directly into the carb? NO.

YES. I have two carbureted vehicles. Both fuel pumps outlets are connected directly to the carburetor inlets.

>Why not? If you can get the fuel to the carb--it should be able to handle the rest. Right?

Right! That's what the float valves and/or needles are for.

>NO.

YES!

>The fuel volume and pressure must be REGULATED to meet the demands of the engine/carb at any given time.

They are. The MO pump has a volume control, moreover, it pumps more fuels as a function of engine RPM. That's regulation.

>If all you did was plumb the fuel pump to the carb, it wouldn't run. Thats why cars with carbs still have a fuel pressure regulator........

Neither of my carbureted vehicles has an external pressure regulator. They both run fine.
