Savage X problem: HELP!
Got a new Savage X last Monday. Got through six tanks of fuel with no problems (actually, the first four tanks were break in. I'm really only starting on my third tank since break in). I topped it off today (seventh tank of gas), and it starts acting up on me about halfway through the tank of gas.
It'll start, idle OK, run for about 30 sec. to one min., then stop where it sits. Sometimes it'll sit there and idle, sometimes it flames out. I changed the receiver batteries, and cleaned the air filter (first time each). Neither thing seemed to be of much help. It's still doing it. After changing to fresh receiver batteries, it worked great for a couple of minutes, then nothing. Steering wont work and throttle wont work. Can't imagine that the batteries only lasted five minutes. The first set lasted for a total of a couple of hours (still using alkaline until my LHS gets in some more hump packs).
I'm not yet where I want to be on leaning it out yet. I'm about one turn into the high speed needle on the carb, and temps are still running between 190 to 200 (how long do I have to run it to get it to peek operating temp??? I hit this setting today at around 80 deg. outside temp, ran it for about five min., and 200 is the hottest I got out of it).
This is my first Nitro RC. I'm very "green", and not overly mechanically inclined. Can some of you pros give me some advice on what to do next?! I was getting ready to pull the exhaust off and give it a good cleaning hoping that may help things out, but I ran outta daylight and energy. That's where I'll start at tomorrow unless you guys and steer me toward something else I may try to get it right.
