Default RE: Kangaroo ground handling and CG nightmare !!

I have attached a picture of my Roo with Wren Supersport power. I started with a Model Mechanics 7 kg thrust motor and the high mount. It was a handful on the ground and ended up upside down on more then one occasion. I then changed my approach to take off by gradually adding power. Make sure that you have very little travel on the nose wheel and expo as suggested. Also make sure that you do not have too much slack in the steering cables. You can add a gyro if you are still battling.

Since I have dropped the mount on mine, I have chucked out the gyro and no longer have any problems with takeoff. My motor is probably very close to 0 degrees incidence on the thrust line now.

On the cg, mine is very light on the nose wheel and will stay on the tail booms if I lift it up. My receiver battery is inthe "pocket" provided in the fuss near the retracts. My pump battery is just behind air brake. I only have the air cans in the nose. I have an Interairco hopper mounted on the plate and one 2 litre pop bottle as a main tank. I had to shrink it slightly to give enough clearance for the retracts so it is probably down to about 1.75 litres now.

I must say that this is one sweet plane now and by putting in the Supersport, I have dropped the weight by 1.5 kg(3 lbs). It has been clocked at 300 km/h and lands without the Kangeroo hops! Hang in there and sort it out. It is a great little beast.
