Look at the Hanger 9 Easy 2 VRTF 40 trainer. I have had mine for a year now and it has held up nicely. The os 40 la will work fine, for i have that engine on the plane. Plenty of power if you know how to use it and don't wait till the last minute. That was the first plane i ever built and it took me all of about 60 minutes to build which included glueing the wing which i suggest. With building experience you could easily throw one together in 35 minutes.
Main gear is strong. Nose gear on mine hasn't bent yet. Really tough plane, it can be literally trown out in the garage when your not flying it. (i wouldn't do that) but the thought was there.
