Problem solved. Took it to my LHS and determined that the crystals in my receiver took a crap.
Replaced crystals, worked just fine for almost a tank of fuel.

Now I have a new problem! I'm posting it in a new topic, so check out the topic "New Savage X Problem! HELP!!" if you have any help to offer me!!
