RE: NEED HELP with Tamiya Panther
Your both kinda right, but the Pershing DMD units are different than the Panthers.
I saw at least 50 tanks at the last SCAT battle day and true most used some sort of Futaba Skysport radio...but there may be some type of glitch with some Tiger DMD units...read on.
Like I said, if you are new to Tamiya rc tanks:
Ref: ((I tried to use this radio in a Tiger I a couple of years ago, and could not get it to work well. But I know other people who use it with no problems).
Lastly, Tamiya USA does not recommend 6 channel radios for use with the f/o DMD units. Good luck.))
What I did was call and write Tamiya USA in Southern California and ask to speak to an RC tech about a Tiger IE DMD setup problem. I had run into the same problems as BlizzardBeast's Panther with my Tiger IE build (even sent Tamiya USA both my DMD units).
The Tamiya USA solution: they told me not to use a 6 channel FM receiver and to use the Futaba Attack Am radio if I wanted things to work well and that my Tiger's DMD units were OK. So I changed radios and everything worked great.
Interestingly, I used a Futaba Skysport FM radio with a 4 channel receiver in my Pershing build and it worked just fine running the Pershing, go figure, but ask the Tamiya USA tech why, not me.
Anyway, the Tamiya USA tech solution worked for my Tiger and the BlizzardBeast's Panther uses the same Tiger/King Tiger DMD units and that is why I offered up this solution for this problem.
The Pershing in this case has nothing to do with the Panther issues as described in this thread, different
DMD units.
I didn't read anyone offering any real helpful solutions to get this Panther running and that is why I took the time to offer some helpful tips based an actually building, trouble shooting and running these models.
My Tamiya Panther should arrive from the Tank Museum tomorrow, hence the interest, so good luck to you BlizzardBeast. Sell your radio on ebay or see if your supplier will exchange it. Regards.
