Default RE: Buying a used Savage

I would buy it.

The Racer's Edge Surefire .32 is the same thing as an Axial .32, and it's a good engine(hopefully it was taken care of). The Nova shock towers are nice and still allow you to run Savage style shocks if you wanted to. The only iffy part is the Savage X style chassis if it's the earlier version with the weak spot, but those are easy to change.

As for the stock body and wheels/dirtbonz, I would just hang onto them and run something else. The Savage 25 Limited Edition(LE) is the lowest production version of the Savage so far, and you never know what that might turn into down the road. I'm not one to usually worry about the collector value of such things, but you have to consider it when you look at what some of the hard to find vintage RC stuff is going for these days. The LE body was based on an optional Savage 21 paint scheme but it had Savage 25 style decals... no specific replacement bodies were made available as far as I know. The Dirtbonz are nothing special, but they came preglued and the HPI foams suck. Save them for shelf display purposes.

You will want to upgrade those diffs pretty soon with a RE .32 and three speed transmission.
