Default RE: official smartech buggy thread

Hi! congratulations with your new car! hope you find it to be an awesome hobby Its hard to say what parts you need because that depends on your driving. One thing thats always good to have is a spare clutch. because if your engine idles so high that the clutch engages you will wear it out pretty fast, it will melt and get stuck to the clutch bell. A duratrax teflon clutch i hear is a great replacement. With a good tune on your engine and low idle i find the clutch to last forever! spare glow plugs are a must! If you got the plastic dampers they wont last long, get aluminium ones. If your planning on doing a lot of jumping and off road driving some plastic suspension or steering parts are bound to break at some point. the e-clips on the suspension arm hinges disappears occationally. The stock smartech steering servo wont hold very long, I use a metal gear servo on the steering, works great! you could also use traxxas servos, way stronger than the smt ones and you get them cheap on ebay. Its also a good idea to get some diff. parts just incase, especially if you plan on upgrading your engine. A failsafe is a must, homemade or a electronic. Since this is a small machine with moving parts that goes fast, parts will need replacing from time to time. Good luck with your new vehicle!!
