FAI = Fédération Aéronautique Internationale http://www.fai.org applied to helicopters its a class of competition characterized by large helicopters performing precision hovering and aerobatic manuvers, large, fast, gracefull, similar to pattern competition in the airplane world.

F2C is the designation for model helicoper class competition. I think its an international term as well.
