RE: axial 32
Lauderboy your post was completely useless.... I was also debating what engine I should buy 2 months ago, originally, I didnt want a diff shredding powerhouse. My choices were the Axial .28, the XTM 457, the SH .28, and the STS .28. I was leaning towards the Axial and XTM but I jumped on a deal on ebay which was an STS D.30M for $99 with $15 shipping. Its the REV 1 but Im happy I got a Rev1 because its a lot easier to break in and doesnt run hot so its more forgiving. And even though it has low pinch it still runs like a raped ape and everyone who has it has a decent number of gallons on it without a loss of compression. I have taken all the necessary precautions with mine: Ive taken it apart to clean any machining dust out, I put ARO in it for lubrication, I sealed it up, and I teflon taped the carb for more protection of air leaks. These motors do need some TLC but from their design they are very high quality. I have yet to break mine in because Im waiting on some parts from ebay but im just giving my opinion from its assembly and construction. When I break it in and it gives me problems after about 1.5 gallons I will give you an honest opinion of the motor. So far Ive gotten the alum cups and a 19T CB to handle the power of this beast but I doubt that will be enough. Hopefully it wont twist up my dogbones cause I really dont have $$$ for CVD's. The only people that I have seen blow up their STS engines have been nublets that rushed the break in (which means they started tuning for performance before passing the 1 gallon mark), or did not take the necessary precautions with prepping the engine for use. If you dont really have eny experience with nitro engines or do not have the patience to take car of an engine properly then an STS is not for you......[8D] Tom.
