Default RE: Sleeper design Just for Fun ! !

Finally found this old thread!

Just to report an update on this little bird, been flying it for about 3 weeks now. Very impressed with the flight characteristics. Mine is still a bit nose heavy as I mounted the "radio gear" in the stock location since everything was ready to drop in. I will definitely be moving the CG back to factory specs.

Plane does great slow rolls with the ususal imputs to keep it flying on line. Point Rolls are fun 4 or 8 point. Figure M/1/4 rolls with nice honest stalls at the top.

My only change since the pictures, was to place one of Dub Jett's "JettStream" mufflers on the .55 AX. I've done most of the flying with an APC 10 x 8 but today I put a 30 yr old "Rev UP" 11 x 7 on it and seemed to fly the same speed as the 10 x 8. I also made a trip by the LHS and bought several APC's from 10 x 6, 11 x 5, 11 x 6 Oh and a 10 x10, just want to see what this little bugger will do with it.

Now, other than the fact that my plane is NOSE HEAVY due to my choice, first flight, I was enjoying the plane so much, I wasn't keeping track of time and ran out of fuel. I'd been shooting touch n go's, and even with the NOSE HEAVY condition I made a nice "NAVY" approach with a fairly large decending 360° right on down to touching the mains and holding the nose off until it finally settled down and drove it right to my feet. If anybody is interested in an quick building, nice flying "knock about" aircraft that you can throw in the back of your truck and leave it there. Its definitely got my vote!
