Forget laser, forget radar, forget GPS when it comes to RC. Use this instead.
1. Mark out a speed trap of a minimum of 100 feet. Clearly mark the entry and exit lines. Get your truck up to speed and head towards the trap.
2. Have someone with a stopwatch ready. As your truck hits the entry line, your partner with the stopwatch starts timing. Stop timing when it hits the exit line. Hold your truck at WOT all the way through the trap.
3. Now divide the distance of the speed trap by the time it took your truck to go through it. Take that number and multiply it by 0.682.
4. That's the top speed of your truck. Don't feel bad if your truck isn't as fast as you thought it was-we've all been there.

Mathematically this makes sense, but there is IMO a HUGE flaw with this system too.. It's the unreliability of anybody to be able to click the stopwatch at the EXACT right time - twice.... Maybe if you did it a thousand times and took the average... But I bet clicking within five feet of a WOT Sav flying by over a thin line ain't all that easy.. You could easily be minus 5 on one side, plus 5 on the other, etc..... Yeah it's all d=rt, but if your d isn't constant, neither is the rest....
