RE: FS One by Hangar 9
I've been practising flying helicopters and 3D planes in FSOne in windy conditions. I set the wind to 10 mph gusty conditions, with a cross wind. This is similar to conditions that are at my flying field, so I am very familar with how planes handle in these conditions. The handling of planes and helicopters on and near the ground with this wind condition is very strange.
The Blade CP (about 10 ounces I think) handles on/near the ground about what I would expect, although I've never flown a helicopter. It gets blown around, and tips fairly easily, which is what I would expect. The .50 glow JR helicopter, which weighs far more than the Blade, is more sensitive to the wind than the Blade, it sometimes gets blown on it's side. Neither helicopter has training gear.
The handling of the 33% Edge in this cross wind is even stranger. This plane weights over 20 lbs, yet it sometips tips sideways off its landing gear while it is rolling to a stop after landing. I don't have a real plane this large, but even my 6 pound Reactor is far less sensitive to a cross wind. My 11 pound Yak 54 pretty much ignores a cross wind, except for wanting to crab a bit sideways.
Once in the air, at least a few feet in the air, I don't notice this strange behaviour.
