Default RE: Brushed Electric Motor Break-In Guide (Not Just For Heli's)

I'm trying to break in a motor from my CX2. I've got the AAs in parallel, and have wired them up using some 12 gauge Wet Noodle wire that the folks at the hobby shop sold me. The wire is thick, but that's OK, right? Better thick than thin?

Anyways, when everything is wired up, the motor turns and the AA batteries instantly start to get REALLY hot. Is that normal? I'm afraid to just let it run, since I'm not sure what those batteries will do if they keep getting hotter.
