Change of timing at the hub. Spark advance worn out. The 44 is not a new engine design and I suspect that the ignition has been in use for some time. Checking the timing is easy but prolly not the problem. Get the basic check out of the way so you won't have any doubts when you send the ignition oin or replace it.
