I spent most of the afternoon reading the fuel forums today, mixing your own fuel, and I get the idea loud and clear that not only does the percent of nitro NOT matter, (and certainly not the COLOR, for gosh sake)., that in fact most .40 and up two-stroke engines will run fine on ZERO percent nitro, just 80 percent methanol and 20 percent castor or synthetic oil.
Be carefull who you listen too! Many here posting that are from forign countries and probably have never had an engine with low enough compression to truely need 15% or higher nitro. Most engines made for USA consumption will run much better with at least 5% nitro. Yeah if you are good at tuning an engine you can get it to run on 0% nitro, but it will be lean in the midrange and will not have the throttle response. However, if it is a higher compression engine, like many made in Europe, and some made in China, then it will run better with 0% nitro.
