That is a common misconception. What happens if your governor decides to quit while you are in a low inverted hover?
There is less than 2mm separating a magnet spinning at 17000 rpms and a little plastic sensor that tells the governor what to do. If for any reason the fan vibrates the wrong way, the magnet moves, or some debris is caught between the fan and the sensor, is bye-bye sensor. [&o]
Everybody needs to learn to set up throttle curves. If the governor decides to take a crap on you, you still have the throttle curves to back you up and not go home carrying a trash bag full of helicopter pieces.
