To tell you the truth Adam I get very lucky with the Mono-cote results sometimes, after a crash its harder because of extra glue build ups and protrusions that didn't exsist before then, [:'(] It took some years of doing it, to start to make things look great, (No seams, no iron marks, Etc....) I've been a builder since I was 8, and I was mono-coting as soon as it was introduced, I use to do all the rice paper covering and that was pretty easy, messy, and great smelling, but time consuming waiting for the dope to dry, No,, I wasn't wet,,,

I must have had a great teacher, He was called Dad, and then my own will of getting sick of looking at bad covering jobs really forced me to follow ancient methods of Patients,,, yes patients is the biggest factor.
I was told,,,, Take your time, Don't watch the clock, when all is done, your plane will rock!!!
I think that was a Confusious saying[sm=tired.gif] NOT, that was my Rock'n'roll dad.
This job looks pretty good up close, but the Pics make it look fantastic, I had part of the old wing from T_ _ _ T # 1, so I cut the Yellow and Purple mono-cote off that to put on the repairs of this one, the Swirls are pretty easy as those swirls actually peel off pretty easily, so they can usually be saved, if you look close you can see a break inbetween the swirls on the side of the fuse where the fuse suffered a great Implosion on the Mid air, and a great explosion once she hit the ground, I guess When I re-heated the two halfs of swirls back together, I used a little too much heat and both ends shrank a little too much, so now they don't meet,

other then that, I was very Lucky that it came back out looking so good.
the tail feathers and the ailerons were crushed up pretty good, as a matter of fact the Mono-cote wasn't even torn, but held all the pieces inside like a body bag of balsa sticks, I had to try and find a way to put new hinges in, all the hinges were cut in half but glued into the regular spots, so now each surface has less hinges, as I had to go inbetweeen the originals, not too much room, and they have a few curves to the way the wood was bent and broken in the crash, but all the spots I built up when I first bought the Kit, were all still glued in place, oh except the Landing gear that completely vanished from the face of the earth, and there is no crack at all in the normal behind the cockpit spot, so building up those soft areas really helped a lot.
This is why Waldo loves Epoxy and Balsa Ply, it cost me all of 1/4 bottle of 5 minute Epoxy to get her back in the sky.

How can you argue with a repair price like that, and it flys great also, sometimes you just get lucky, for this time I was very lucky, other times you may have to off set your trims to get em to fly straight again in such a major repair, But as long as it flys, I'm a Happy man.

And yes its an awesome place to fly, very pretty indeed, we all really want to get our runway in better condition though, its bumpy as hell in most spots, which plays havock on our landing gear and tail wheels,[&:][:@][
