RE: Build- Extra 330L .50size(1430mm) from CMPro
Well, it's coming along slowly. I have both ailerons mounted. The covering has been removed from the servo bay and the aileron servos are mounted onto the covers. I'm still wondering if I should strengthen the fiberglass fuse on the inside, in the landing gear area or not??? I thought about using 4mm plastic screws instead of strenghtening to save weight, from not strengthening, and in hopes that the scews would just shear off in the event of a hard landing and I'd slide along the grass. I also had the YAK 54 1430mm .50 (also from CMPro) Fiberglass model and the main landing was twisted back and broke the fuse on a very normal landing. It was also strenghthened from factory with wood on the inside. The problem was the width of the strengthening. It was only about 30mm or 2 inches wide and on the mentioned landing gone bad a strip of fibergllass 30mm wide was pulled off my fuse with the landing gear A friend of mine was of the opinion that and even if I strengthened the fuse that it would just brake somewhere else.
