Bruce McCall designed a plane like that way back when... showed up in "Car & Driver" in the middle '60s.
It resembled a Macchi Saetta, cut in twain at the cockpit, with the front end and back looking the same, but pointing opposite each other.
Push-pull.. one wing, with tip rudders if memory serves..
It could fly either forwards or backwards, depending on which side the Italian air force was aligned with at the moment.
