Default HOW-TO make a Mini-T Wheelie Bar with Pictures.

Ok it's here finally. Mods If you want to make this a sticky you may.



First off I just want to say that, anyone can create almost anything given they are creative and have some patients, This wheelie bar took me about 20 minutes once I had a mental picture and gathered up some parts.

First off This thing works like a champ. It has no Up and Down play. But it does have Side to Side play so that it doesn't bust off in the event of a tumble or cartwheel which these trucks love to do.

OK first up Parts list. ~~ You may substitute your own parts and pieces that you have laying around the house just as I did.

1. A metal Die Cast car wide enough to give a nice positive stance for the wheelie axle. I think mine was a little larger than my Micro-T. It has a solid steel axle and nice rubber wheels and tires. Also the one I used had an empty transmission box in the rear after I dissembled it which is part of the black spacer you see in the middle of the axle.

2. I used a mini MLST front toe link kit I bought from my LHS for about $5.00

3. I also used some Du Bro 6mm open ended rod ends. with the pivot balls already installed in them.

4. Lastly 1 servo package. this is usually the package that has all the extra servo horns and screws and bushings and spacers in them. I had a few extras from some radios I bought when I did the brushless conversion in the Mini-T.


Now for some assembly. Remember this is just how I assembled mine, You may choose to do your however you'd like. This is more just for reference.

Step 1: Take the axles off the Die Cast car.

Step 2: Take the MLST rod ends and hole them out big enough for your screw to fit in. Like so. I happend to find my body hole reamer works quite well for this.



Next...

Using the parts mentioned above Assemble the rear end on the axle in this order.



Here's a fully assembled view just before it goes onto the truck.



Now once you have everything holed out and installed on the axle take a look at your mini-t. You see the 2 holes where your tiny screws used to go to hold on the rear guard. These are perfect holes to utilize for the wheelie bar. and the servo screws fit perfectly inside them with no drilling or modifications.



Before you install the wheelie bar though Use a rubber seal from a servo and place it over the holes where it mounts up to the truck. once you screw in one side you will have to stretch the rubber servo pad to be able to get it to the other side and screw in the second screw. NOTE: without this there is a lot of play in the wheelie bar. this actually prevents side to side movement unless a good amount of force is used against the wheelie bar. Also when tightening the screws into the mounting holes you can tighten them pretty tight. So that there is no play in the bar. side to side.. Also make sure you are installing the wheelie bar with the ball cup face down so that the screw is sitting on the top of the cup and not inside the cup.

Ok here's a close up pic, of it installed on the truck.



As you can kind of see the open end of the ball cups are face down. This way works best in my opinion.

Again you can see that the ball cups are face down.












Again I hope you use this as starting grounds for your wheelie bar should you ever get creative and make one. I don't use all the support bars and this and that, that I've seen in other posts. One reason for this is I've seen people I think Maxxout use ball ends on the underside of the truck to attach more support bars too, but when I was looking into that possibility I noticed that every time it would wheelie then those would drag on the ground and not letting the wheelie bar work efficiently. This thing is Incredibly strong. and it's light weight too. It will let the front wheels come off the ground about 2 1/2" - 3". I mean come on we all like to still have the wheels off the ground. This is mainly to keep it from flipping on it's lid then you mash the throttle. It works and it works well. Please feel free to post any POSITIVE comments about this as you like.
