Depends on what your goals are.
If you want an everyday bashing/playing/racing vehicle, buy a new one
If you want a restored vehicle for the novelity of it and to drive occasionally, get the vintage one and have fun restoring it.

As to vehicle reccomendations, again, what do you want to do with it, where do you plan to run it?
All off road get an MT or an ST
Light off road and onroad get a ST or Buggy
All on road get a buggy or street car

Decide those things, post it up and maybe people can give you specific vehicles to consider.
