Rcs 1.4
Flight report:
I've had a chance to get 4 flights in on the funtana:
set up as follows:
RCS 1.4 w/10oz tank
1100 on int. ni-cad
1650 on rec. NMHi
5-5645 Hitec
2-225 Hitec Throttle/Choke
11.25 lbs
CG backside of the hooks (hooks are no longer there as I replaced them with nylon bolts
With this AFT of a CG the plane will still dive a little after a 10-15 second inverted flight.
No snappy behavior with this CG.
Elevators very easy
Harriers very easy
The plane will just float around the sky with those Huge wings. The plane can land as slow as 3-4 MPH very very stable.
I also tried out the following props:
18 x 6 APC Wide
18 x 6 Mejzlik
16 x 8 APC
The APC W. 18 x 6 seems to never let the motor wind out The verticle was great with all the above props.
The 18 x 6 Mejzlik was great in all aspects of spool up time, downline braking, 3d.
The 16 x 8 took quite a bit of work to do T-rolls as the motor has a small margin of what the 16 x 8 will work with.
The 18 x 6 Mejzlik was so very stable in the T_Roll. I did my tests in 10 MPH so the plane should be so very easy in less wind. The RCS 1.4 will pull out of a hover but its not a rocket just slow and steady. The plane is so solid in the rolling elevator/T-roll. I don't think i will do any snaps or blenders with this bird as the tail looks 2 be a week link in a hard move like that. I feel it would not take much to make it depart the plane. I had an OS-160 on stand-by incase i needed it. I will not be swapping that motor off as this is great; however, for those of you doing the MOki 1.8, OS-160, ZDZ 40 you all are going to have one bad beast! My OS-160 are some very good gas mileage motors. My RCS comes in with a little over a 1/4 tank of gas on 12 minutes flights. So if you are weight saving on this motor install a 8 oz tank. My 20 oz tank on my DP comes in about 1/2 on a OS-160 so that is a great gas sipper 2. Warm weather is right around the corner for most of you so get those Funtanas ready as the Fun part of that name is so true......
