RE: GP Super Stearman
I had an interesting experience with Great Planes to share. Like most of us with the Super Stearman I had a lot of wrinkles to iron out. In doing so I noticed that the Monokote at the bottom of the fuselage was cracked and one of the ribs was broken. I tried fixing it and it didn’t come out well. So I said f… it and I called GP. I was lucky to get a very nice customer service rep by the name of Susie. After a pleasant conversation she said to just send in the fuselage with the receipt and they would send me one back.
So the next day I spent a couple hours cruising dumpsters in the local industrial parks for the right size box. Finally I found one that was close to the size I needed. The next day I spent about an hour modifying the box. By the time I was finished you could have sent eggs in it, it was that strong.
Then I had to call GP back because I had misplaced the receipt. I got Susie again and explained the problem. She then told me to hold while she spoke to her supervisor. She came back with even better news then I expected. She said that I didn’t have to send in the old fus and that they would send me a new one at no charge. By then I was hooked she was so nice I told her that even if they had refused my request, getting a negative response from such a nice person would have been easier to except. Susie at GP made my day. I wish all my problems were that easy to fix. Well hopefully it will be here soon and I can get my Stearman finished. I can’t wait to fly it.
Happy Flying!
