Default RE: The Australian bbq and beers

ORIGINAL: bleary

Just jump in with a quick question Crawf on your 480 mount on the MUS.When you say that you got out the dremel to carve a spot for the blind nuts in the firewall, what do you mean? I was going to do a typical Bleary and hammer them into the ply so that the spikes went in...I have never put them in before and wonder if this is too rough? I think I had better use the X mount as you did for added support.

Bleary,

Glad you decided to use the x-mount... my LHS said just bolt to motor to the ply firewall but I thought that was a bit dodgy.

All I meant re the dremel was that the firewall is initially epoxied to a recessed frame in the nose. I found that the blind nuts were binding on that recessed frame when I was screwing the bolt in through the x-mount. By removing a bit of the recessed frame adjacent to where the blind nuts will be spiked in, it made for a more secure fit....

I was looking to take a photo but I remembered I totally rebuilt the front of the MUS and it would look nothing like yours...
