Default RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Personally, I'd buy FSone with the controller. You can use the 6EXas via it's trainer port but, you know what? It's a friggin hassle. I used to do it with my main flying radio and it's just a pain. I'm not that anally retentive enough to HAVE to use the radio I use when I fly. That's just my personally opinion.

If anybody thinks a simulator is going to do a "dead nuts" impression of real flying they've got another thing coming. And I'm glad they don't. It gets you in the ball park. I don't for a minute believe that the plane has to fly like the plane I'm flying in real life. If it's close, it's cool but give me a break. Having said that, it's amazing how you can damn near fly and land anything in G3.5 You'd think the damn thing was on autopilot!

The one thing I actually like about FSone: it's harder to fly in FSone than it is in real life :-) That's not a bad thing. But in my opinion, the one thing that all simulators have in common is that they don't account for that intangible sort of "instability" of all small model aircraft when they first take off. It's really hard to explain. For example, when you take off, even when in a simulated environment with wind gusts, the aircraft normally skews and rocks and twists on ROG that no simulator I've ever tried has been able to render. Everything is just too smooth in the sim. FSone came the closest for me.

Looking forward to the expansion pack.
