Is a gas conversion really worth the money?
The last week has kept me busy, in resuming a project of 12 years delay and looking for engine options of 40-50cc engines for the Byron Ryan STA I have totally stripped down my McCulloch Promac 610 just for its 60cc engine, bought a used Mac 25cc weedie, pored over specs, types, coversion FAQS, websites and posted questions about this and that here.
So now its a question of practicality, is a chainsaw conversion like a 46cc Poulan with a CH spark, hub, mount, muffler etc. for about $210 and the cost of the new Poulan 2750 46cc chainsaw at $200 adding up over $400 compare to a new Fuji or other made for R/C engine of equivalent cc? Some are less than $400, some more but are lighter, easier standard mounting, carb, muffler etc.
