mechanically is always the best way. it takes a little longer, but when done you know you have no mechanical advantage one way or the other. unless you need that for speed or torque. if your geometry is off then you have to trim or curve the servos to work the way that you want them to. ie: pitch comes in to slow or fast then you curve it so it feels good, but then are hideing a bad setup and not getting the full power out of your setup?.
Most people use trims to hide a bad setup without even knowing it. I see it all the time in planes. now that I am starting to understand how a heli works for the most part

. You can really hide a bad setup very easy with these new high end radios and all the geometry in heli's. So you can see how easy it would be to over work or under work a servo. so why not make it mechanically symetrical just like the blades -12 to +12.
My heli is a X-cell SE. it has a new OS 91 on a 980 high volume Hatori pipe. I have the 8.18 gear ratio turning rotor sport 700's (a little undersized) on 30% power master. there is a 601 and a GV1. 8411's on the fore and aft, left and right cyclic. and one more on the throttle. the one one the throttle is a little over kill, it use to on the collective but it was stalled 6 times. 2 of the 6 stalls were very hard stalls (dont ask). neadless to say there is a new 8411sa on collective.
12 on the bottom 12 on the top 7 for cyclic and 22 degrees on the paddles. blades are 174g and the paddles got bumped from 17 to 32.
All I can say is wow this beast can pull the biggest loops, huge stall turns and not to mention some mean 3D. pull verticlely close to the same speed as my something extra (2.5 horse pumped, piped 61 on 30%power maseter turns a 13x9 at over 14000 static.) its a little silly but a whole lot of fun. That would be a good race

hmmmmmm ...... the extra did a full power ground launch, about 12 seconds it was pretty much to high to see to be controlled. Its got me thinking what one climbs faster ? could be the heli or could it be the silly plane. anyway its late ive rambled enough.
