RE: Sig Kougar Build
Jollyroger,
I built it about 3 years ago, so you're really working my old brain but I'm pretty sure they were medium struts. I painted them white and wrapped the shiny part with monocote adhesive silver trim sheet cut to size. I think I filled the inside with silicone adhesive, taped the two halves over the metal struts, then sealed it with CA on the edges.
Structurally they've held up well but the paint is starting to peel in places. If I could do it again I would rough up the plastic a bit (around 200-400 grit, I think) and clean with a slurry of laundry detergent then acetone before painting. I don't think I did that back then.
The machine still looks pretty good, though, and for new guys flying ARF's its a real eye-opener for them to see a real hand-built model flying like this thing does with its piped YS 45.
