Very interesting. I have modified my 160 FX by grinding the exhaust port 1mm higher thereby raising the timing from about 132 deg to 144 deg. Which is still pretty mild for a pipe. I have a type 86 carb I thought I would try. The transfer in the crank is 14mm as compared to 9.5 in the stock carb and 12mm of the type 86. Am using a Perry pump as it hadn't occured to me to use one of my old rf 61 pumps. Any links to back plate mods to fit them in the 160? I will try the head shims, what is the reasoning?
