I prefer to have the recovery pads on, with a mod nitro engine I find they must be installed. Water pickups behind the prop always work much better, if it's possible that would be the way I would water cool any boat.

My SV motor is quite loud in my scratch built cat. I wonder why the noise is reduced with an outboard. Maybe it's such a small compartment and does not allow the sound to amplify.
